The Gunners’ latest addition has opened up about his move to the Emirates stadium and confirmed why he has chosen to join Arsenal ahead of other clubs.
New Arsenal manager Unai Emery has done well so far to make as many moves as possible as he looks to strengthen his squad in order to secure a place back in the Champions League.
For much of this summer, there had been serious talks about Sokratis Papastathopoulos completing a move to north London along with several deals which the Gunners had on the table.
At the start of this week, Arsenal finally confirmed that the Greek defender had agreed to move to the Emirates stadium in a deal which will see him earn £108,000-a-week in wages.
And when asked about what convinced him to join the Gunners, Sokratis revealed a lot of factors contributed to that.
“Arsenal is one of the three biggest teams in the Premier League and one very big club. It has a lot of fans and a very big history.” the 30-year-old star said
“Like I said before, I’m very happy that for the next years I will be here to help the team.”
