Arsenal make pre-agreement to sell Toure
It now appears as though the man who wanted out in January has got his wish approved this summer.
Toure may reunite with Emmanuel Adebayor at Manchester City after Arsene Wenger confirmed he could be on his way to East Lands with a meeting between the two clubs taking place at the moemnt.
The Ivorian slumped in form since returning from the African Cup of Nations in 2008 and saw out an indifferent 2008/09 season.
But Arsenal will not lose depth should Toure depart.
Wenger recruited a defender in Thomas Vermaelen before Phillipe Senderos returned from a stint at AC Milan.
Those inclusions meant Arsenal had an over-whelming seven capable center-backs with the likes of Gallas, Djourou, Silvestre, Song and Toure himself all available.
Thus, Wenger has not been hesitant to negotiate a sale of Kolo Toure who demanded an exit six months ago.
Wenger told Arsenal TV: “We will see what’s happening in the next 24 hours, nothing is decided yet.
“We have seven centre-backs and I am in the position where I have to play some in midfield but of course Kolo is a very good player and we will see what will happen in the next 24 hours.”
