Cesc Fabregas – who had netted his 10th goal of the season earlier on – hobbled off just before half-time to be replaced by Aaron Ramsey as Arsenal went on to miss his creativity in a lack-lustre second-half.

The Spaniard had the entire half-time for treatment from Arsenal’s physio but Wenger could not give a firm verdict on Fabregas’ injury during his post-match interview.

It was around this time last year that Arsenal’s skipper suffered a knee injury which sidelined him for much of the second half of the campaign but Wednesday night’s suspected hamstring problem may not be that severe.

Fabregas though, will certainly miss Saturday’s home clash with Hull City and leaves a nervy wait over his condition with an injury scan likely to be held within the next few days.

“It is too early to say how long he will be out now but at least for Saturday and after that, we will see.” Wenger said.
