Tomas Rosicky and Thomas Vermaelen are likely to be sidelined during the midweek international break and could also be ruled out of next Saturday’s visit to Anfield.

The Czech international produced a terrific display which saw him register his name on the score sheet for the first time in two years while his Belgian teammate managed to see out challenge from Louis Saha and Emmanuel Adebayor for much of the game despite conceding goals from Spurs’ attacking duo early in the first half.

But following a fully committed performance in the north London derby, Rosicky and Vermaelen will be back on the sidelines after suffering a back problem and ankle injury respectively.

Rosicky, who has spent most of his Arsenal career out of action, sustained his injury through fatigue as the game wore on, but Vermaelen’s ankle injury was inflicted by a ferocious tackle from Scott Parker late in the derby – an offense which saw the Tottenham midfielder sent off for a second booking before he apologized to Vermaelen for the damage he had caused.

According to Wenger, Rosicky and Vermaelen are now in doubt to make next weekend’s visit to Liverpool.

“Unfortunately we had some bad news for Rosicky today, and Vermaelen as well. Vermaelen has an ankle problem, and Rosicky a back problem.” Wenger said

“I don’t think they will be available for Wednesday, whether they are available for Saturday is a big doubt.’
