Bacary Sagna’s future at Arsenal is back in his own hands.

The 31-year-old’s contract will expire at the end of this season and despite declining a renewal last month, Arsenal are set to submit a new offer for Sagna to remain at the Emirates stadium.

Indeed, the Gunners resumed negotiations with Sagna just over a month ago to renew his current deal but the former Auxerre man has been difficult to persuade so far.

Doubt over the defender’s future at Arsenal has attracted interest from Premier League foes Liverpool while Inter Milan have now shown interest in landing another free-agent in the summer after clinching Nemanja Vidic’s services.

However, according to a senior employee of the club, Arsenal Holdings PLC filed a new proposal worth £85,000 a week on Monday even though the length of this deal is still the two-year offer that Sagna first rejected.

Arsenal are hoping to witness Sagna follow the foot-steps of Theo Walcott who was once reluctant towards a new contract but changed his mind to sign an extension last year.
