I have been flopping in big games – Giroud
Olivier Giroud is not hiding from his critics.
Indeed, the Arsenal frontman has admitted where he has been at fault during his short spell as a Gunner so far.
Giroud produced an improved campaign last season, finishing as the club’s top goal scorer before famously setting up Aaron Ramsey’s winning goal against Hull City in the FA Cup final.
But considering the fact that Arsenal’s challenge for the Premier League title was weakened during clashes with their closest rivals, the Gunners’ leading striker has assessed his own performances on those occasions.
For the second season in a row in March, the Frenchman missed a golden opportunity to give Arsenal an early lead at Stamford Bridge, only to witness Chelsea score the opening goal when the ball went to the other end.
According to the 27-year-old who still recalls where he came up short in games that mattered the most, he is a man on a mission to improve
“I have to do better in the big games and I’m working on it. I still think about those misses against Chelsea” Giroud said
And despite impressing in his country’s colours this summer, the former Ligue 1 champion who has already scored twice at the World Cup admits that he is still a work in progress.

“I often look back at my mistakes with Arsene Wenger. He says I have to improve my finishing and my movement. He wants me to make smarter runs” he added
“One day Wenger told me I’m too honest in my running, too predictable. I need to be more sly, tricky. I’m getting there.”
