Reports from earlier today had suggested that Hulk was subject to a £26.5 million offer from Arsenal which his current club Zenit St. Petersburg had accepted.
The rumours were apparently traveling from the Russian media while Twitter user Michael Stafford made his own sensational claim that:
“Zenit rejected the first Offer, but Arsenal upgraded it to £26.5m, As soon Medical is done he will Travel after the world cup to #AFC“
But after verifying with an official from the Russian club, it appears as though this was merely another transfer story which lacked any truth to it.
Indeed, the ‘Hulk to Arsenal’ speculation has now been put to bed while Twitter’s Michael Stafford has been put to shame as a fraud.
“Zenit Saint Petersburg has never received any bid from Arsenal for Hulk or any player. That is complete nonsense.” a spokesman of the club said
And for the ‘news breaker’ Michael Stafford who had claimed to have links with NBC…
@102greatgoals Hey guys, that Michael Stafford is a fraud. He doesn’t work for NBC or write for their soccer coverage.
