The XI: West Ham vs Arsenal – Gibbs out as Rosicky starts again
Debuchy – Mertesacker – Chambers – Monreal
Rosicky – Coquelin
Sanchez – Cazorla – Podolski
The fitness of Kierran Gibbs is often like a time bomb waiting to blow up. He has covered a lot of ground lately and with two games in just five days to handle, Nacho Monreal will have to fill in the gap.
Francis Coquelin has been decent in his cameos and deserves a shot at that defensive midfield role. Partnering him in the heart of midfield should be the 34-year-old Tomas Rosicky whom this game may come too soon for even though it would only be his second league start of the season.
This could be one of Arsenal’s toughest visits to Upton park in recent years and that means the likes of Mathieu Debuchy, Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and Danny Welbeck will have to play through any fatigue because they make up the best team Arsene Wenger can put together at the moment.
But in Olivier Giroud’s absence, Lukas Podolski – who has a prolific record against West Ham – should get a sniff for once.
