Wenger: Walcott and Wilshere can go
Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere will not be given any holidays when the season comes to an end.
After missing the best part of the campaign through long-term injuries, there had been claims that Arsene Wenger would block the duo’s participation in this summer’s international outings.
England boss Roy Hodgson is set to name his squad for next month’s friendly against Republic of Ireland and the Euro 2016 qualifier in Slovenia.
With Walcott and Wilshere still working on their full fitness, Wenger was expected to rest his injury-prone stars ahead of pre-season in July.
However, the Arsenal boss insists that he will not be wrapping the English duo in cotton wool this summer despite their fitness concerns.
“Our players don’t need a rest. Theo has been out for a year, Jack for six months because he played his last game in November.” Wenger said
“They don’t need a rest. They can go with the first team, it’s no problem. Of course I would welcome it.” he added
Both players have been linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer.
Jack Wilshere is reportedly being targeted by Manchester City while Theo Walcott is yet to renew his contract with the club.
