Arsenal welcomed back Alexis Sanchez from his summer holidays on Monday.

The 26-year-old was handed an extra break along with David Ospina due to their participation at this year’s Copa America tournament in Chile.

Sanchez was fully involved as he spear-headed his country’s run to the final which saw Chile defeat Argentina on penalties to win their first ever title.

The former Barcelona star, who scored the winning penalty in the shoot-out, had been given until late August to report back at the club.

Sanchez finished off his break with a trip to the Eiffel Tower over the weekend.

However, Arsenal’s top-scorer from last term with 25 goals returned to London Colney on Monday to resume action after publishing a video of himself training while on holidays last week.

The return of Sanchez means Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky are Arsenal’s main injury worries ahead of the new season even though Jack Wilshere could miss more than a week with an ankle problem.
