Wenger on announcing new January signing
The Gunners became the only team in this season’s Champions League to fail to sign an outfield player during the summer after Petr Cech’s arrival from Chelsea.
Despite a solid start to the season which sees them joint-top with Manchester City on the Premier League table, Arsenal’s campaign has been threatened by injuries again after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott joined Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey and David Ospina on the sidelines on Tuesday.
Demands for a new addition to the squad have returned, but Wenger – who claims to favour a new signing – has suggested that his current team has enough options to deal with the injury crisis.
“We do not close the door [to announcing a new deal in January] but we have a big squad. We need everyone back” Wenger said on Friday.
Arsenal’s last signing from the January transfer window was Gabriel Paulista who arrived from Villarreal in a £11.3 million deal.
