Arsenal have received an injury boost with the imminent return of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The 22-year-old has been sidelined by a hamstring problem he suffered during the opening minutes of the 3-0 League Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

However, after less than two weeks out, Oxlade-Chamberlain has now been cleared to resume training with the Arsenal squad.

The English youngster managed to participate in the first team training session on Saturday morning as the Gunners prepared for the north London derby clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s hamstring injury was deemed as a “slight” problem by Arsene Wenger last week and the midfielder is expected to be fully fit after next week’s international break.

The former Southampton boy was joined by the likes of Mikel Arteta, David Ospina and Laurent Koscielny, who are all  facing fitness battles, during the weekend’s training session.

According to reports, Oxlade-Chamberlain may undergo a fitness test for Sunday’s match even though he is unlikely to be included in the 18-man match day squad.
