Chambers: I was upset with Swansea City player
Calum Chambers has admitted he is still smarting from that forgettable clash with Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero during last season.
Before the Gunners thrashed the Swans 3-0 on Saturday, Arsenal had been beaten on their last trip to Wales almost exactly a year ago.
Gylfi Sigurdsson’s free-kick canceled out Alexis Sanchez’s opener before a header from Bafetimbi Gomis secured victory for the hosts on that day.
However, the highlight of the game was Jefferson Montero’s cross for Gomis’ winner which came after the Ecuadorian had terrorized Calum Chambers at right-back all night.
Chambers, who has rarely featured in the Premier League since that match in November 2014, has recalled the disappointment over his performance in an interview.
“I was upset with Montero and everything he did on the day came off for him. Definitely one to learn from.” Chambers said
The 20-year-old has been deployed in different positions since arriving from Southampton, but Chambers insists that he is not so versatile in terms of footballing attributes.
“Not good that I can’t think of one [attribute] immediately is it. If I got more chances upfront I would be good in front of goal!” he added.
