Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal are preparing to unveil a new signing within the next day or two.

The Gunners have been forced to dip into the transfer market for new additions after failing to sign an outfield player last summer before being hit by another injury crisis this season.

After weeks of negotiating a deal for Mohamed Elneny to join Arsenal from Basel, Arsene Wenger has finally admitted that the club could present the Egyptian midfielder to the public on Monday.

“We hope to announce a player in the next 24 to 48 hours.” Wenger said on Saturday

With Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin sidelined, Elneny could be in contention to replace either Calum Chambers or Mathieu Flamini in the defensive midfield role later this month.

The Arsenal boss has also refused to rule out any chances of adding a second player to the squad before the January transfer window is closed.

“I don’t need to tell you the name [of the new signing]. After that we will see [about other deals]” he said
