rosicky substitution

Arsene Wenger is maintaining hope that Tomas Rosicky could represent Arsenal again ahead of his expected departure in the summer.

The Czech international spent almost a year on the sidelines but his return against Burnely last week saw him suffer a new injury blow.

With Rosicky facing months out of action yet again, there have been fears that the 35-year-old – whose contract expires in June – may have played his final game in Arsenal colours.

According to Wenger, the former Dortmund star has been devastated by the news.

“It’s too early. The only thing we know is that it’s a bad muscular injury that will keep him out for a long time’. Wenger said

“The good news is that he will apparently not need surgery as it is a partial rupture of his tendon but how long it takes, [whether] it is two months or three months, we don’t know.

“We are all shocked and he is the most shocked and we have to patient and hope that it is not his last game.”
