‘He shouldn’t be playing for England’ – Twitter reacts to Arsenal star’s show for Hodgson’s team
Danny Welbeck’s first start for the England national team since returning from his knee injury was a victorious one as the Three Lions came from two goals down to win 3-2 in Berlin.
The Arsenal striker has not found goals hard to come by in recent games for the Gunners but Welbeck could not manage to put his name on the score-sheet on Saturday against Mesut Ozil’s Germany.
Despite putting in another hardworking shift for his country, not everyone appeared to be impressed by the 25-year-old’s performance before he was substituted for goalscorer Jamie Vardy after 71 minutes.
Here were the mixed reactions full of compliments and criticism for Welbeck.
Team that Hodgson played wasn't as bad as it looked. He needs to stop playing guys like Welbeck and Lallana though.

Welbeck was quality tonight. Shame he didn't get a goal but apart from that he looked very good.

Welbeck should not even be touching the England first team with all the better options tbh

Welbeck looked so out of place on the wing, got to be vardy and Kane together at the euros

No idea why people are complaining about Welbeck's performance… his work rate was amazing and he created some decent chances… #GERENG

Welbeck isn't first XI standard for England

Lallana and Welbeck came off and England win the game. No surprise there.
