Welbeck: Why dressing room was not happy
Danny Welbeck has admitted that the Arsenal squad was left “unhappy” during the last couple of weeks.
Several defeats in all competitions saw the Gunners lose their grip on the Premier League crown and bow out of the FA Cup and Champions League to Watford and Barcelona respectively.
Many of Arsenal’s first team regulars received strong criticism from fans and pundits ahead of Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Everton.
And Welbeck, who has been the team’s leading scorer since returning from injury, has revealed the negativity took its toll on Arsene Wenger’s squad.
“As you can see with the results, we have been unhappy with the situation.” the 25-year-old said
“It is not a happy thing to be a part of. The Premier League is only thing we have got left so we will need to give it our all and try to get the points.”
Welbeck has refused to rule out any chances of pipping either Leicester City or Tottenham to the Premier League title but he insists Arsenal will have to improve their form first.
“The most important thing for us is to worry about ourselves. That is the only thing we can do and not look too much at other team’s results. We need to focus on ourselves and do what we can do.” he added
