Emerging rumours are claiming that Arsenal are targeting Boca Juniors midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur after sending scouts to watch the Uruguayan youngster.
Arsene Wenger’s only signings since the start of last summer’s transfer window have been Petr Cech and Mohamed Elneny who have both received rave reviews for their performances.
However, following another season where Arsenal may have to settle for a place in the top four, new additions to the squad are being demanded more than ever by fans.
According to ESPN, the Gunners have sent staff to Argentina to watch Bentancur in action even though they could face competition for his signature from the likes of Juventus and Real Madrid.
Scouts from London were in attendance for Boca’s 3-1 victory over Bolivar last Thursday as Bentancur featured for only five minutes.
And on Sunday night, Arsenal officials were again present as the 18-year-old played the opening 40 minutes against Tigres before being replaced by Fernando Gago.
