Arsene Wenger insists he would like to see Arsenal make progress as a club when his reign as manager finally comes to an end.

The Frenchman remains the most successful boss in the Gunners’ history after winning three league titles and six FA Cups since moving to London in 1996.

However, another season of having to settle for a top four finish – despite being favourites for the Premier League title – has seen Wenger’s future at the club questioned more than ever.

“I wish when I go the club goes higher up and wins the Champions League and championship every year,” the Arsenal boss told a media conference.

“I will be the biggest supporter in the stand because I will feel i have contributed to that.

“You have to remember when we built the stadium, we had five to seven difficult financial years. We had to be three years in the Champions League and have a 54,000 average attendance.
