Arsenal have reportedly began discussions over committing another member of the first team squad to a long-term deal.
Jack Wilshere has only managed to make a handful of appearances over the past four seasons after undergoing minor surgeries for various injuries.
However, the 24-year-old appears to have kept his place in Arsene Wenger plans after returning for the final month of the season to secure a place in Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2016 squad.
According to the Telegraph and Daily Mail, Arsenal have spoken directly about offering Wilshere a new three-year contract before he teams up with the English national team for next month’s tournament.
The three-year extension to his current deal which expires in June 2018 will see him earn higher wages than the 90-000-a-week he is pocketing at the club.
Arsenal’s bid to secure a new deal for Wilshere comes after rumours suggesting that new Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was interested in the midfielder’s services since David Silva remains the blues only recognized playmaker at the moment.
