Granit Xhaka has finally spoken openly about his imminent move to Arsenal, admitting he would like to play for the club.
The Switzerland international has been heavily linked with a switch to north London in recent months with reports suggesting that he will be Arsenal’s first signing of the summer.
Borussia Monchengladbach confirmed on Tuesday that an offer for the player had been received from an unnamed club with an agreement now pending.
Xhaka, who recently declared his wish to find a new club by the start of Euro 2016, has told Swiss TV that his rumoured deal to join Arsenal should be completed by June.
“Absolutely. Whether there are talks or not, the clubs Gladbach and Arsenal know that, but as of now I am still a Gladbach player. It might change in the next weeks or it might not change.” the 23-year-old said
“There will definitely be a decision before the European Championship.”
