Reports are now suggesting that Arsenal have been alerted by uncertainty over the future of star forward Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean international is on course to complete his second season at the Emirates stadium after being signed from Barcelona for a £35million fee in July 2014.

However, after conceding the Premier League title to Leicester City, the future of the 27-year-old, who stormed into the dressing room after being substituted on Saturday, has been put into doubt.

Rumours from last week suggested that Bayern Munich were interested in the signing of Sanchez as a replacement for the ageing Franck Ribery.

And a new report by the Sun claims that Manchester City, who have benefited from the sale of several Arsenal players in the past, have now made a verbal enquiry about the availability of Sanchez – which is not against FA regulations ahead of the official opening of the summer transfer window.

Arsene Wenger recently confirmed that the club has planned to offer the South American and Mesut Ozil a new lucrative contract with their current deals set to expire in June 2018.

‘That (contract negotiations) will be done in the break, in the summer,’ Wenger said.

‘Yes, I am confident. Yes, they have a two-year contract left and there’s been nothing done yet.

Sanchez, who netted 25 goals last term and has a total of 16 so far this season, has become an instant fans’ favourite in Arsenal’s colours.
