Arsene Wenger has confirmed which players will be omitted from the Arsenal squad set to travel to the United States.

With the first match of the 2016/17 campaign now less than a month away, the Gunners will have a slightly shorter list of pre-season matches than last year following the cancellation of this summer’s Emirates Cup.

After last Friday’s trip to France which saw them draw 1-1 against RC Lens, Wenger’s side are now gearing up for a showdown with the MLS all-star team in San Jose, California on Friday.

David Ospina has been included in the squad for the American tour despite participating at Copa America but Alexis Sanchez will not be risked.

“Alexis will not go because he had an ankle injury,” Wenger said. “That is not too bad but I will leave him behind.”

“The players who won’t make it are the players who went very far in the European Championship, such as [Aaron] Ramsey, [Mesut] Ozil, [Olivier] Giroud and [Laurent] Koscielny.
