Wenger on Ozil playing at Leicester next week
Arsene Wenger has responded to calls for him to bring back the rest of his Euro 2016 participants to action after Sunday’s disappointment.
The Gunners began the 2016/17 campaign with a 4-3 defeat to Liverpool at the Emirates stadium; their third loss at home on the first day of the season since 2013.
After witnessing a makeshift front-line and an inexperienced centre-back partnership feature on Sunday, several fans are now demanding the return of first choice players like Mesut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny who are being rested.
As a result, the Arsenal manager insists he will “try” to have his star players available for the trip to champions Leicester City next week.
“Physically we are not ready. You are in a Catch-22 situation with the Euros – do you give the players a rest and start the season without many of your players? Or do they play in this kind of game and get injured, like Ramsey today?” Wenger saidGG
“We will try [to have Ozil, Koscielny and Giroud back], but when they have not enough preparation they get injured.”
