Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has suggested that Arsenal are serious contenders for this season’s Premier League title.

The Gunners are preparing to welcome the Italian tactician’s side to the Emirates stadium tomorrow in what could be a decisive match in the context of the title race.

Chelsea had made a perfect start to the 2016/17 campaign with three wins out of the opening three games but disappointing results in their last two outings have seen them fall behind league leaders Manchester City.

And with the blues now level on points with Arsenal, who are only recovering from a slow start to the season, Conte is refusing to take Arsene Wenger’s men for granted this year.

“I’m sure Arsenal will fight until the end to win the title because they’re a very good team,” Conte said on Friday

“They have young players, great technique, good players with good physical potential and organisation.”

Chelsea’s 1-0 victory at Arsenal in January was part of the Gunners’ poor run during the second half of last season which saw them surrender their position as title favourites to Leicester City.

Conte also confirmed that Cesc Fabregas’ goal-scoring contribution in the midweek League Cup fixture means the former Arsenal star is likely to make a rare start for the blues this weekend.

“For Cesc, that’s for sure, it’s a special game for him,” the Chelsea manager said

“But the most important thing for Cesc is that, now, he’s a Chelsea player and playing very well for Chelsea. I’m seeing him very focused, very concentrated, during the training sessions.”
