Arsene Wenger has revealed he will make a decision over the involvement of Olivier Giroud in Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint Germain within the next 24 hours.

The Gunners are set to take on the French champions in the first game of the 2016/17 European campaign after defeating Southampton on Saturday.

Giroud made a vital contribution in the 2-1 win as he drew a foul from Jose Fonte to earn a penalty-kick which was dispatched by Santi Cazorla in injury-time.

With new signing Lucas Perez still finding his feet at his new club while Alexis Sanchez remains unlikely to feature as a centre-forward, Arsenal have few options to choose from upfront.

However, Wenger insists he is yet to make his mind up about handing Giroud a start at the Parc de Princes.

“I have not decided that [if Giroud will start],” the Arsenal manager said on Monday.

“The players do not know the team. I have 24 hours. Is he ready to start? He is close.”
