wenger-signing

Recent speculation has continued to link Arsenal with a transfer move which might have not been expected by many.

Arsene Wenger was forced to spend heavily last summer to strengthen his squad following the departures of Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini, Tomas Rosicky and Serge Gnabry.

Despite bringing in five new players, the Gunners failed to secure the signing of most of the players they were linked with after unsuccessful offers for Jamie Vardy, Gonzalo Higuain and Riyad Mahrez.

And if new rumours are anything to go by, Arsenal will be back in for one or two more high profile targets when the transfer window opens again in the winter.

Indeed, according to the Sunday Express, Wenger is plotting a sensational move to sign a Premier League rival’s out-of-favour player in January.

The report claims that Arsenal are interested in signing Yaya Toure who has completely lost his place in the Manchester City squad following the arrival of new manager Pep Guardiola.

Arsenal’s potential deal for the 33-year-old is hardly believable for many not only because of the player’s age but his lavish wages which is claimed to be around $292,000-a-week.

However, Toure, whose older brother once represented the Gunners of course, does have a connection with Arsenal after a undergoing a trial at the club in 2003.
