Alexis Sanchez appears to be doing all his best to shrug of the injury blow he suffered on Tuesday on morning while on international duty.

The 27-year-old has been the leader of Arsenal’s attack for much of this season so far this season after racking up eight goals and six assists in all competitions.

However, just when the return to fitness of Olivier Giroud appeared to have handed Arsene Wenger more options up front, the Arsenal manager has been threatened with the possibility of losing a key player.

Sanchez was withdrawn from a training session with Chile Tuesday after suffering a calf problem.

Initial reports suggested he could be ruled out for six weeks but conflicting reports are now claiming Sanchez is still hoping to make the squad for Chile’s clash with Uruguay next week if he misses the World Cup qualifier against Colombia.

According to Chilean newspaper El Mercurio, the former Barcelona star has undergone tests which will soon reveal the full extent of his injury.

“The ultrasound was performed immediately. The doctors commented that with these injuries you must wait 24 hours to determine the recovery time, because the tear evolves,” a source told El Mercurio.
