The Gunners have been handed a rare injury boost heading into the busy list of festive fixtures next month.

Arsene Wenger’s side has been troubled by injury problems as usual for much of the season so far with at least five first team players currently sidelined.

However, there is finally much better news for the Arsenal manager concerning the fitness of key defender Hector Bellerin who suffered an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at the start of this month.

According to a report by the Sun, the 21-year is preparing to make a surprisingly early return to training by the beginning of next week.

Bellerin, who was rewarded with a new long-term contract and pay rise on Monday, has been deemed fit to resume light training after this weekend even though he was expected to remain on the sidelines for much longer.

The report claims the Spaniard could still take until mid-December to play again but the news of his imminent recovery will be welcomed by fans who have been frustrated by the performances of stand-in right-back Carl Jenkinson.

Despite November’s obstacles, Arsenal have managed to stretch their unbeaten run in all competitions to 18 games as they sit only three points behind league leaders Chelsea.
