Boost for Arsenal as injured Gunner finally makes return on Tuesday
After Hector Bellerin’s return last week, Arsene Wenger has welcomed another player back from injury with the list of absentees looking slightly better heading into the festive period.
The Gunners, who have now gone 14 games without defeat in the Premier League, are still in the hunt for the title as they sit only three points behind league leaders Chelsea.
Following the worrying news of Shkodran Mustafi’s hamstring injury, Arsenal have incidentally welcomed back Per Mertesacker who could help fill the void of the 24-year-old.
Mertesacker had been sidelined by a serious knee injury he suffered during pre-season and after several months out of action, the World Cup winner managed to return to full training today.
Despite being somewhat of a much-maligned figure amongst certain fans, the 32-year-old is generally known to have a better understanding with Laurent Koscielny at centre-back than Gabriel Paulista.
Here were a few snapshots of Per back in normal action at London Colney…
