Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville came up with a controversial choice in his team of the season so far on Monday.

The former Manchester United defender has often been lauded by fans for providing pertinent views and analysis on the TV channel.

However, Neville made a call which Arsenal fans and perhaps most Premier League followers will find bemusing yesterday as he picked his best eleven of the first half of the 2016/17 campaign.

According to the 41-year-old, Alexis Sanchez, who has been in exceptional form this season, has not been good enough to make his team of best performers.

The Chilean international is the second top scorer in the league this term after scoring 12 goals (just one behind Diego Costa) and racking up seven assists thus far but that has not been impressive enough for Neville.

“My team is dominated by Chelsea with three out of the back five. In midfield I have gone for Fernandinho alongside Kante because he has been excellent in central midfield for Manchester City.” he said on Monday Night Football

“It was Lallana, Mane or De Bruyne on the right. I couldn’t decide between those three, but I went for Lallana because I felt he shaded it.

“Hazard is a no-brainer and I went for Ibrahimovic and Costa up front.”
