Arsene Wenger is now strongly pursuing the signing of a new striker according to emerging reports.

The Arsenal manager added Lucas Perez to his squad last summer after failing to land any of his main targets which included Gonzalo Higuain and Jamie Vardy.

Alexis Sanchez has flourished in his new centre-forward role to ease some of Wenger’s concerns in the goal-scoring department while Olivier Giroud has been in prolific form when called upon.

However, Arsenal’s faltering challenge for the Premier League title means the Gunners boss is apparently still in search of a reliable option for the job of leading the attack.

As a result, Wenger has resumed his interest in Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata who was one of the players he could not manage to sign despite his determined efforts during the summer.

According to Spanish outlet OK Diario, the Gunners are expected to make another offer for the forward who cost Madrid $31.8 million (€30 million) after leaving Juventus to move back to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The report claims that Arsenal are expected to once again discuss the possibility of signing the 24-year-old on a permanent transfer instead of the loan deal which was previously proposed.

With the future of star forward Alexis Sanchez still unclear, it would certainly be sensible for Wenger to increase his options in attack before he is left in a desperate situation during the summer.
