Arsenal’s list of injured players is now reducing just at the right time as the squad gears up for a decisive period in the campaign.

The Gunners are targeting their first piece of silverware since winning the FA Cup final against Aston Villa two seasons ago.

Injuries to important stars have played a part in interrupting Arsenal’s momentum with Danny Welbeck only recently making his way back from a long lay-off.

The 26-year-old has made just three appearances off the bench so far this season but he is expected to be given a different role this weekend.

According to the Evening Standard, Welbeck is on course to make his first start for Arsenal since May 2016 on Saturday as the Gunners travel to Southampton for an FA Cup fifth-round tie.

The England international’s return to full fitness will be very good news for Wenger who has relied heavily on Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud as his only options at centre-forward thus far.

With Welbeck odds-on to start upfront, Wenger is expected to make other big changes and rest a few first team regulars despite Arsenal’s poor recent record at the St. Mary’s stadium.
