The Gunners have wrapped up an important deal heading into the Premier League clash with Burnley.

Arsenal have displayed signs of a policy change in the past year after previously being reluctant to invest in players over the age of 30.

Following Bacary Sagna’s decision to join Manchester City after a contractual disagreement in 2014, the club has continued to make amends this season with the likes of Olivier Giroud, Laurent Kosicelny and Per Mertesacker all signing contract extensions despite not having age on their side.

Several reports, along with a leaked document by the Football Association, have indicated that Santi Cazorla has signed a contract extension with Arsenal which will see him remain at the Emirates stadium for one more year.

The 32-year-old, who joined the club from Malaga in the summer of 2012, underwent surgery on his knee in December and is still recovering.

However, Cazorla’s reliable performances when fit appears to have convinced Wenger to reward him with a new one-year deal.

The Gunners boss is now expected to confirm the deal by next week as Arsenal prepare for a decisive month of February which will see them face Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
