After receiving some level of criticism from the fans for probably the first time in his Arsenal career, Petr Cech has rated his own performance so far this campaign.

The 34-year-old is into his second season as a Gunner after joining the club from Chelsea during the summer of 2013.

Cech has often been lauded for his contributions in the Arsenal goal, but the team’s poor results away from home in recent Premier League games have seen the goalkeeper receive his fair share of the blame.

However, the veteran shot-stopper, who has conceded 22 goals in 20 league games so far, insists his performances deserve some praise.

“So far it’s a kind of a different campaign because I think I have been doing well but if you take clean sheets, we had a run of games where we conceded at least one goal,” Cech said.

According to Cech, who has never saved a penalty-kick he has faced during his time at Arsenal, making improvement is still his priority.

“Overall it is a season in which I am playing at the level I need to be at. You want to improve every game and keep the standard up the whole time – you don’t want to have a period where you are not doing so well or you are not where you should be, which hasn’t happened yet so hopefully I can keep like that.” he added
