Arsene Wenger has revealed the reason behind his most notable substitution during the clash with Swansea City.

The Gunners returned to winning ways in the Premier League courtesy of a 4-0 victory over Swansea to make up for dropped points in the 3-3 draw at Bournemouth.

It was arguably Arsenal’s most convincing display away from home this season as they kept a clean sheet and scored for fun at the Liberty stadium.

However, the impressive result was marred by the moment Alexis Sanchez unleashed his frustration after being substituted with eleven minutes to go.

And according to Arsene Wenger, withdrawing the Chile international was important due to the fixture congestion.

“Alexis Sanchez is not injured, he just wanted to stay on the pitch. I did not want to take a gamble on him.” the Gunners boss said

“He is hugely influential and, at 4-0 up, I saw no need to risk him.”
