Arsenal now favourites to agree $93.6 million signing of brilliant forward – Sanchez replacement?
Arsene Wenger appears to have identified a new target for the summer with the future of Alexis Sanchez still uncertain.
The recent struggles of the Gunners have seen several key players linked with a departure as the club’s hopes of winning the Premier League or Champions League this season hang by a thread.
With rumours still suggesting Alexis Sanchez is bound for an exit, Wenger has picked out a new forward who could fill the void of the Chilean international.
According to the Independent and several outlets, Arsenal will revive their interest in signing AS Monaco’s highly-rated Kylian Mbappe this summer.
The 18-year-old forward has caught the eye of several big clubs around Europe this season and he continued his form in the Champions on Tuesday by scoring against Manchester City.
A bidding war between a host of suitors could mean Mbappe, who has been compared to Gunners legend Thierry Henry in the past, could cost a whopping $93.6 million (£75 million).
Arsenal and Arsene Wenger’s superb track record of being able to nurture young players, especially recruits from the French league, means the striker is likely to favour a move to the Emirates stadium.
When asked about a potential move for the much-coveted teenager earlier this month, the Arsenal manager admitted there was an interest.
“We follow him, we know him very well, and he is developing well. He extended his contract with Monaco last season and so it’s Monaco who are going to decide his future. He could be another Thierry Henry.” Wenger said
