Arsenal appear to have picked out the forward who could fill the void of Alexis Sanchez should the Chilean star decide to leave.

The Gunners have slipped further behind leaders Chelsea in the Premier League in recent weeks while their hopes of surviving the last 16 stage of the Champions League have been severely damaged by a 5-1 first leg defeat to Bayern Munich.

There have been various reports of unrest in the Arsenal dressing room as Alexis Sanchez, who has just over a year left on his contract, continues to be linked with an exit.

And the club appears to be preparing for the potential departure of this season’s top scorer by resuming their interest in Alexandre Lacazette.

The Daily Mirror are claiming that Arsenal are lining up a move for the 25-year-old this summer despite facing competition from Liverpool.

Lacazette has frequently been linked with a move to the Emirates stadium in recent years and he appeared to be bound for an Arsenal switch last summer after Lyon turned down an initial bid of £35 million.

However, the Gunners are reportedly ready to increase their offer this time to $73.5 million (£60 million) with more funds likely to be available if Sanchez is sold.
