Arsene Wenger has been hit with another blow on the injury front following Saturday’s Premier League clash with West Brom.

The Gunners have had their fair share of injury problems so far this season as they look to avoid finishing outside the top four of the league for the first time in over two decades.

However, that task could become harder following the news that Alexis Sanchez is now nursing a serious damage to his ankle.

The 28-year-old, who managed to score yet again in the 3-1 defeat against Tony Pulis’ side, was substituted with 12 minutes left after sustaining an injury.

And according to Wenger, Sanchez’s ankle is in “an absolutely terrible state”.

“He was injured from the tackle in the first half. It was a bad tackle,” the Arsenal manager said after the game

“His ankle is in an absolutely terrible state. He should not have played in the second half but he insisted that he wanted to come out.

“In the first half he was the one who created many chances, made dangerous situations and in the second half you could see that he couldn’t anymore. In the end we had to take him off. He should not even have played in the second half.”
