24-goal striker confirms Arsenal talks with transfer expected to be completed
Henry Onyekuru has sent out a strong hint that his Arsenal move is on the verge of being completed.
The 19-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign in the Belgian top-flight in 2016/17, scoring 24 goals in all competitions for Eupen.
That has attracted the interest of Arsenal who are believed to have secured a £6.8 million deal to sign him this summer.
And in a new interview, the Nigerian youngster has expressed his admiration for the Gunners while virtually confirming his Arsenal move.
“Thierry Henry has always been my idol since I was a kid,” Onyekuru said
“I was watching him play, watching Arsenal and going to YouTube to watch most of his games.
“I remember saying if I had to move to the Premier League I want to be like Thierry Henry, so it’s likely to come true and I’m looking towards it at the moment.
“It’s a good feeling for a club like Arsenal to make a bid for me, this is due to my hard work in training and games.
“I am waiting and working towards it and we’ll see how it goes after the [Nigeria] qualifiers.”
