Sanchez grabs an assist and then a bad miss after coming off the bench for Chile
Alexis Sanchez had a mixed night on a personal level after coming off the bench for Chile in Sunday’s clash with Cameroon.
The 28-year-old finished the 2016/17 campaign with 30 goals in all competitions; the most he has ever scored in a season since moving to England.
However, Sanchez was not able to start Chile’s opening match in the Confederations Cup due to an ankle injury scare in training.
Chile’s inability to find a breakthrough against underdogs Cameroon resulted in the Arsenal forward’s introduction after only 58 minutes.
And Sanchez did not take too long to make an impact as he in curled in a brilliant cross which was headed home by Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal.
However, in the dying minutes, the former Barcelona star found an opportunity of his own to get onto score sheet which he spurned after dallying on the ball. Fortunately, Eduardo Vargas finished off the job for Alexis.
