Arsene Wenger has confirmed the number of new players he would like to add to the squad in an interview.

The Gunners boss has been put under pressure by fans once again to secure the addition of several new faces to improve a squad which finished outside the Premier League’s top four last season.

But following last weekend’s FA Cup victory over Chelsea, the Frenchman suggested that his team is not in need of an overhaul in order to win major honours next season.

And in a new interview with beIN Sports, Wenger has reiterated that his plans are to bring in three players at most.

“Between maximum three,” the Arsenal manager said

“We cannot spend as much as many other clubs because some clubs have external resources that allow them to be basically unlimited.

“We can spend money because we have managed well the club. Lets not forget the amount of money spent is not a guarantee of success.”

According to the Arsenal manager, fans need to reevaluate what they regard a ‘big signing’ because that depends more on the player’s quality than his price.

“We have to be clear what we understand as a big signing. Is Holding a big signing for you or not.” he added

“When you buy a player for £40m, everybody will have at the start a positive judgement. When you buy him for £2m, he cant be good.”

“That means a big signing is not necessarily linked with the amount of money spent.”
