Arsene Wenger has given a positive update regarding the future of key stars Mesut Ozil and Alex Sanchez amid recent rumours.

The pair have been linked with an exit this summer after delaying the renewal of their Arsenal contracts which will expire within a year.

Various rumours have suggested that Mesut Ozil could depart for Paris Saint-Germain while Alexis Sanchez is being targeted by Bayern Munich.

However, the Arsenal manager insists his two prized assets will be remaining at the Emirates stadium despite what is being speculated.

Indeed, according to Wenger, the club will choose not sell and therefore Ozil and Sanchez will see out the last year of their contracts regardless of what happens this summer.

“This summer first of all they will stay at the club and hopefully we can extend their contracts,” he told beIN Sports.

“You cannot weaken the club and weaken the team and you want to strengthen the team, unless you can find a player of the same calibre if they want absolutely to leave.

“I believe at the moment we are not at that front we are just focused on keeping the team together and see how to strengthen the team.”
