Gunners move in with £35.5m offer for 30-year-old star
Arsene Wenger is said to have made a new attempt to secure the services of one of his long-time transfer targets according to emerging reports.
The Arsenal manager watched his side clinch an important 3-2 victory at Selhurst Park on Thursday night courtesy of two goals from want-away star Alexis Sanchez.
With the future of the Chilean superstar looking very much uncertain ahead of the January transfer window, Wenger has been urged to make a move for a replacement forward.
Thus, Spanish outlet Don Balon is claiming that the Gunners have made a new offer to finally sign Karim Benzema.
The report is indicating that Real Madrid are seeking more than the £35.5 million (€40 million) offer which Arsenal have made for the player.
Arsenal’s renewed attempt to complete the addition of Benzema comes as a slight surprise considering the fact that summer signing Alexandre Lacazette is settling in well at the Emirate stadium.
Even so, the potential departure of Olivier Giroud and of course Alexis Sanchez means the arrival of a new goalscorer could be absolutely necessary at Arsenal in the coming months.
