Arsenal star takes a dig at Lacazette with comments after Tottenham game
Petr Cech has admitted after Saturday’s game that the two big misses from Alexandre Lacazette were decisive as Arsenal succumbed to a defeat in the north London derby.
The Gunners responded to the 3-1 loss at Swansea City by thrashing Everton 5-1 at the Emirates stadium to restore some confidence.
But with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur next on the fixture list, Wenger was all too aware that the pressure could be back on him in the race for a top four finish.
And that certainly proved to be the case as the Gunners suffered another defeat away from home after a lackluster performance against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The 1-0 loss to Spurs saw Alexandre Lacazette miss two golden opportunities to score an equalizer after being introduced as a substitute in the second half of the game.
And according to the Frenchman’s teammate Petr Cech, those misses were costly.
“In this type of game you need to take your chances, and I know we had two at the end,” Cech said after Arsenal’s defeat.
“But unfortunately we did not take them. As I said before the game, it was a game which had a huge importance.
“Not only because it was a north London derby and obviously this is the most important game for Arsenal fans.
“But obviously for the position in the table we were behind, we needed to close the gap and we’ve failed to do so.”
