Arsene Wenger’s biggest signing so far this summer has spoken about the reason behind his move to the Emirates stadium.
Following the departures of Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta, Wenger was expected to secure the signing of at least one more midfielder despite the addition of Mohamed Elneny in January.
That new signing turned out to be Granit Xhaka, who agreed to join Arsenal from Borussia Monchengladbach in May.
According to the 23-year-old, his decision to become a Gunner was made much easier by a conversation he held with former Arsenal starlet Havard Nordtveit.
“Of course I spoke with him [Havard Nordtveit] about Arsenal and he told me it’s a big club, a family club and it’s very important for me to come here.” he said
After making his debut in the red and white against the MLS All-star team on Thursday, the Swiss international could not hide his delight.
“This club fits to me and I fit to it. Arsenal play attractive football and I enjoy that. I think you could see today that this team has a lot of quality and we’ll give our all to show that on the pitch.” Xhaka added
