Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise on one of Arsene Wenger’s forwards as the team strives for silverware this season.
The Gunners have been strengthened by the return to fitness of Danny Welbeck who recently scored a brace against Southampton as he made his first start since recovering from injury.
According to Ferdinand, the 26-year-old could help rescue Arsenal’s season if he is called upon to contribute.
“He [Welbeck] had a knack when he was at Manchester United of playing well in key games away from home.” the former England international said
“For example, I remember him scoring against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu in the last 16 four years ago.
“He is one of the freshest players Arsenal have right now because he’s only just come back from injury and will also have a real hunger to make up for lost time.
“Danny gives them a different option: he’s strong, he’s quick, very good on the ball and he can score a goal.” he added
“Experience in such huge games counts for a lot.”
