Arsenal have been given what appears to be an ultimatum by one of the most valuable players in the squad.
Until their recent slump in form, the Gunners had made a bright start to this season with Mesut Ozil playing a key role in their surge for the Premier League title.
However, the German international’s reluctance to sign a new contract – with his current deal set to expire in less 18 months – has been a concerning factor for fans of the club.
And in a new interview, Ozil, who joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in a club-record $52 million deal in 2013, has revealed that virtually the only reason he would remain at Arsenal would be if Wenger was guaranteed to stay as well.
“I’m very, very happy at Arsenal and have let the club know that I would be ready to sign a new contract.” the 28-year-old said as quoted by the Daily Star
“The club knows I’m here most of all because of Arsene Wenger.
“He is the one who signed me and he is the one whose trust I have.
“The club also know that I want to be clear with what’s happening to the manager.”
