‘Drop him to reserves or sell him’: Some fans bash this Arsenal star after 3-0 loss
Some Arsenal fans did not hesitate in taking to social media to bash one of the full-backs who played on Sunday as the Gunners suffered another defeat at home.
Arsenal lost a league game at the Emirates stadium for the first time recently as Brighton produced a solid show to win 2-1 in north London.
Not in the starting eleven after that game was Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who was back in the team on Monday due to the absence of Hector Bellerin.
The former academy youngster was in action from the start again on Sunday as Arsenal took on Manchester City at the Emirates stadium.
Even though Maitland-Niles was certainly not the only man at fault as the Gunners were torn apart in the first half by the away side, his display seemed to anger a number of supporters.
Here were some reactions to the Englishman’s show at right-back as Arsenal conceded twice so early in the game…
For Maitland-Niles, his lack of effort is the true problem (not just the lack of quality). Drop him to the reserves or sell him.

Maitland-Niles claims he's an attacking player but never makes attacking runs to aid his winger. He doesn't make good use of the ball too.
I don't understand the guy

Maitland-Niles probably wished he was not picked for this game, given how he was just strolling on the pitch and never marked De Bruyne playing on the left wing for city, who he was primarily supposed to be keeping an eye on.#ARSMCI
