New Arsenal manager Unai Emery is now close to completing his second signing of the summer transfer window as the club makes more moves in the transfer market before the World Cup even kicks off.

Following the arrival of Stephan Lichsteiner this week, Emery appears to be intent on adding more experienced defenders to an Arsenal team which conceded the most goals out of all of the sides who finished in the top six of the Premier League last season.

According to the Telegraph, the Gunners have now reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of Sokratis Papastathopoulos which will only cost £16million.

The same report is also claiming that the deal for the defender will actually not be announced by the club until next month.

The 29-year-old, who has been pocketing £90,000-a-week wages in Germany, is largely being pursued by the Gunners due to the concerning fitness of Laurent Koscielny and inconsistent form of Shkodran Mustafi.

Arsenal’s last transfer deal with Borussia Dortmund came less than six months ago as Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang completed a north London move.
